Problems with business cases stem from big uncertainty factors, which are part of every IT-related business innovation -- be it a new management approach, a major organizational product, or new products. The growing share of innovations in modern business results in a relatively diminishing area of applicability for traditional investment analyses based on financial indicators such as internal rate of return (IRR), return on investment (ROI), or net present value (NPV). Now comes the next big question: if business case (or any other form of thorough, fact-based analysis) is not the decision driver, then what is?
