For most companies, business transformation is usually linked to strategic activities, such as entry to a new target market segment, introduction of a new service or solution offering, attainment of competitive advantage, and improvement of customer satisfaction. Many practitioners that I work with describe their business transformation initiatives as a means to manage IT projects that enable their business organizations to deliver their target results and then to reap the related benefits. Many companies established business transformation offices (BTOs) to act as the controller to make decisions on enterprise-wide IT project investments.
