IT Service Management: Starting the Journey
Do you think of the IT department as your service provider, or does IT simply represent another one of those departments that you are constantly wrestling with to get something done? Opinions and experiences aside, the fact is that IT does provide a service to your organization. Considering how technology budgets have been steadily increasing year after year, it may be time to consider a new paradigm for how you view your IT department: as a strategic partner to enable your business goals. Though this cannot happen overnight, acknowledging the impact IT has throughout an organization and given a situation where the service it provides may not be the most effective and efficient, it is clearly time to consider a change for the better.
