To date, however, integrating these different platforms has often required custom coding or use of specific adapters. The good news is that a group of vendors -- led by EMC, IBM, and Microsoft, and supported by Alfresco, OpenText, Oracle, and SAP AG -- has developed what is expected to become a new standard to enable content repositories from different vendors to work with each other. The group recently submitted its "Content Management Interoperability Standard" (CMIS) for acceptance to the Organization for the Advancement of Structured Information Standards (OASIS) as a proposed standard.
