Security: Software Development (Part V in a Series)

by Tom Welsh

This is the fifth and final Executive Update in a series examining software security. Previous Updates in this series looked at investments and threat levels, risks and procedures, basic countermeasures, and tools and technology. Here in Part V, I will concentrate on the relationship between application development and security. All software has to be written, and that is the area of greatest leverage when it comes to building in security -- or, all too often, building in bugs and vulnerabilities.
