Master Data Management for Business: Intelligence and Customer Analytics

by Stephen J. Andriole

This is the first in a three-part series of Executive Updates on data management and analysis. Here we'll look at master data management (MDM); we'll then turn to business intelligence (BI) in Part II and will wrap up with customer analytics in the final Update. The order of these Updates is important. MDM is the analytical infrastructure to which we've paid too little attention for years; BI is the general approach we should take to data and information utilization and optimization; and customer analytics is a special instance of BI enabled by MDM.
