Working with What You Have

Whether or not IT has a formal role in the strategic planning at your organization, it must support the business. This requires that there be some communication and integration between IT and the business. Ideally, this occurs through mutual cooperation. Some IT shops, however, face open animosity from the business. Among survey respondents to a Business-IT Strategies Survey, IT is viewed as everything from a strategic ally to an enemy. Regardless of the state of the relationship between IT and the business, you have to work with what you have.
