Structures for Absorbing Change

by Carole Edrich

Any "new world" organization should try to reduce internal fragility by providing a framework within which its employees feel more secure and thus more comfortable with the changes to their work, technology, and environment [1]. If this framework is implemented as a series of processes, formal actions, or reports, the organization should consider the way that the rigidity of the organization has been affected, as this may further increase fragility. Alternative ways of providing such a framework could therefore be sought to increase the levels of trust in organizations and institutions.
