Bottom-Up Processes in Architecture
Last month, I described how the architecture council could be a very useful part of the architecture governance process (" The Architecture Council: Using Self-Interest in the Company's Interest," 13 November 2002). I got a number of e-mails in response, some praising the idea, others saying it was too "top down." People asked whether the process would allow for any bottom-up activity. The answer is YES. In fact, the architecture council process is designed specifically to make sure that bottom-up activity is a major driver of innovation in the architecture.
