Can a Core Team Help You?

by Michael Rosen

Recently, I have been working with a client who is trying to reduce development, maintenance, and operations costs by instituting reuse within his organization. Cost reduction is a common goal for most IT organizations, but few have made the connection between achieving reuse and the corresponding reduction in total cost of ownership (TCO). Maintenance and operations costs can be reduced by eliminating redundant code from production. Additional benefits from redundancy elimination include more consistent results for the same processing steps -- regardless of where they are initiated -- and higher customer satisfaction.
