Process? We Don't Need No Stinking Process! Or Do We?

by Michael Rosen

A mid-sized, regional company and client of mine was acquired a few years ago by a larger, national corporation. The parent has started a strategic initiative for continued growth and acquisition over several years. This initiative is different than most that I've seen, for several reasons. First, the company actually has a well-thought-out strategy that has both a realistic long-term vision and incremental shorter-term milestones. And second, it understands and is actively planning for the critical role that IT will play in enabling its future integrated enterprise. I have been brought in to recommend an IT architecture that will allow my client to meet its internal "core competency" goals and also be integrated into the larger enterprise.
