This is the concluding Advisor in my series on evaluating the sustainability of strategic initiatives that leverage information technology at their core. Up to this point, our focus has been on the characteristics of the firm, its competitors, the initiative itself, and the value system in which the firm is embedded. In this analysis, we have taken a static view of these variables, a snapshot at a point in time. Yet after launching an IT-dependent strategic initiative, as with any other strategic initiative, a firm must look for opportunities to continuously extend its life and extend response lag.
