Integration is one of the leading initiatives in the IT industry today. Many analysts believe that without a workable enterprise integration plan, e-business deployment and business-to-business (B2B) integration will suffer considerably. IT has been bearing the brunt of the integration challenge, trying to piece together fragmented, redundant data and systems using a bewildering array of emerging technologies. But IT alone cannot achieve the levels of integration and realignment needed to truly become an e-business. Business units must step up and work with IT on a business-driven integration and realignment strategy that provides IT with the foundation for data, systems, and market integration.
