Unless you've been out of our solar system for a while, you know that profound changes are occurring in how we buy, deploy, and support business technology. But much more important, even more profound changes are taking place in senior management teams' perception of the value of technology. The definition of success in our field is evolving. The skills, commitment, and passion of the past aren't playing well in the early 21st century. Thus, leadership is changing. Not too long ago, "leaders" ran data centers and managed desktop upgrades. They were tactical and operational, and that was okay with senior management, who wanted cost efficiency. But things are different now.
