Conventional approaches to analyzing and presenting the financial results of IT spending fail to yield the insight needed to improve IT performance or to demonstrate the value that the organization receives from its IT investment. If presented without sufficient circumspection, some of these approaches can, in fact, be dangerous and misleading.
