Requirements Management Strategy: Extending Systems Requirements Management to the Enterprise

by Stephen J. Andriole

In this issue of the Executive Report, we discuss how the good things we've learned about systems requirements management can be extended to all kinds of requirements management. The fact is, there is not much difference between the requirements to design and develop a new, inter-active, computer-based system and the requirements for finding the optimal location of a new manufacturing plant, the selection of an outsourcing vendor, or the selection of a new vice president of marketing. Not much is more important to your business- IT alignment strategy than good requirements management. Without it, you might deploy the wrong communications architecture, install the wrong data warehouse, or implement the wrong e-business model. The possibilities for problems are endless.
