Commercializing Corporate IT Software Assets

Worldwide, large corporations collectively spend more than US $1 trillion per year on IT. Over the years, they have created a vast and growing base of software systems and related artifacts, such as business process descriptions, software design models, infrastructure plans, and database schemas. In the hands of software vendors, many of these software assets might have significant commercial potential. However, because they are developed by IT shops for internal use only, very little is ever packaged or promoted for outside sale or license.
