Ask the Experts: Business-IT Alignment: Part I

by Maxwell Hughes, Chris Pickering, Rob Thomsett, Stephen J. Andriole, Jim Highsmith

This Executive Update is the first of a two-part series containing excerpts from a panel discussion on business-IT alignment. The discussion followed a presentation on adaptive software development that took place at Summit '99, Cutter Consortium's annual conference for IT professionals, which was held in April in Boston. The panel was made up of Cutter Consortium Senior Consultants Max Hughes, Chris Pickering, Rob Thomsett, and Steve Andriole, with Jim Highsmith serving as moderator. The discussion started with each panel member identifying himself and giving a brief description of his take on business-IT alignment, then audience members asked questions of the panel and offered comments. Ed Yourdon, chairman of Cutter Consortium, jumped in with an occasional comment.
