The evolving IT cost-cutting trends of outsourcing, cosourcing, and offshoring continue to expose the wasted dollars spent on tools, process redesign, and implementation, as well as the subsequent training to support technology deployments that ultimately failed. The frugality of recent years serves to remind IT of its past errant ways. Questions surrounding the ROI of IT investments will continue to affect IT in the future; but what can we learn, how can we integrate the lessons of past failures, and how do we quantify the wasted time, effort, and damaged credibility of the organization or project sponsor?
