I've recently read several articles on knowledge management and found most of them confused. Now, I admit it's one of those topics that has attracted a lot of different types of vendors, and each has stretched the definition to include their favorite features. There isn't any one technology that underlies knowledge management -- it's more like an impulse on the part of managers to try to gain some control over the information floating around the company.
