Web Services

I've already complained that the term "Web services" is being used in too many different ways. In spite of that, I thought I'd try to come up with some overall assessment of it. So I guess the place to start is with a working definition of "Web services." Let me borrow one. Last week, InformationWeek's main article was on Web services. The author, Paul McDougall, offered this definition:
