UML 2.0
The Object Management Group (OMG) adopted UML 1 in 1997, after several years of work, initially on the part of the "three amigos" (Grady Booch, James Rumbaugh, and Ivar Jacobson) and later by a wide range of companies and methodologists. After the initial adoption, the OMG task force responsible for the Unified Modeling Language (UML) decided on a policy of gradual small changes for a period, to allow companies to gain experience with it. The first major revision of UML (UML 2.0) was scheduled for 2002.
