Component-Based Product Line Engineering with UML

by Paul Harmon

As I've reported before, I receive a lot of books. Some I glance at, some I skim, and some I skim and then read. I recently received Component-Based Product Line Engineering with UML, written by Colin Atkinson and others (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0201737914/
cutterinformatco). Normally I'd list all the authors, but in this case there are ten of them. They all work at the Fraunhofer Institute for Experimental Software Engineering (IESE) and are members of a team that developed the KobrA method, which is described in this book. The team is headed by Atkinson. The IESE is located at the University of Kaiserlautern in Germany. The KobrA methodology takes its unique spelling from the fact that the team decided to create a unique component model, which they designate by calling the object of their study "komponents."
