New Technologies for Enabling a Service-Oriented Architecture

Service-oriented architecture (SOA) is concerned with the independent construction of services, which can be combined into meaningful, higher-level business services within the context of the enterprise. SOAs are not new. There are prominent examples of enterprises that have successfully implemented and realized the numerous advantages of SOAs, including reduced costs and improved competitiveness. Some of the world's most successful applications are based on SOA, built on underlying infrastructure such as CORBA.
