Last February, I wrote that the ability to monitor the efficiency of distributed business processes in near real time (i.e., as they execute) was one of the most important developments in business process management (BPM) (see my 23 February 2005 E-Mail Advisor, " Monitoring Business Processes in Real Time"). I still believe this is true.
