New Architecture Offerings: Users Need Systems, Not Programs

All of a sudden, Microsoft seems to be moving aggressively -- at least, aggressively for Microsoft -- into the area of high-level architecture. I have read about this recently with some hope. "The world is model-driven, and Oslo (Microsoft's new MDA approach) is just a toolset to manage a model-driven world," said Robert Wahbe, VP of Microsoft Connected Systems Division (InformationWeek, 9 June 2008). Microsoft has been demonstrating new tools called Architecture Explorer and has signed on to use UML more extensively.
