Microsoft offers products that cover the complete spectrum of application integration technologies. COM+ (also known as DCOM and MTS) provides a rich environment for building tightly coupled distributed systems and integrating component-based applications. MSMQ is a fully featured messaging service that can be used to build loosely coupled distributed systems. BizTalk Server is a workflow tool that also supports the basic message broker functions of routing and translation. All these products work primarily on the Windows platform and use their own protocols and standards.
