Open source software (OSS) is increasingly prevalent on the Internet and within enterprise IT. For example, Apache's HTTP Server has been the most popular Web server since 1996 and is now more widely used than all others combined. And almost everyone is aware of Linux's inroads in the operating system market. But the scope of OSS products encompasses other types of software as well. The OSS products discussed in this issue of Cutter Benchmark Review were chosen for review based on actual uptake in the industry.
