Database Options in Distributed Computing
We truly live in the information age. It's hard to imagine that just over 50 years ago, the first electronic, general-purpose digital computer was invented. The ENIAC could perform 5,000 additions per second and more than 300 multiplications per second -- not even close to the power of the personal computer that I'm using today to write this report. When the first Cray supercomputer was invented, it was believed the market would be saturated with the production of a handful of these supercomputers.
