Enterprise Architecture Rollout and Training

by Michael Rosen

Enterprise architecture (EA) has the potential to help companies bring control and consistency to their IT organizations and better align IT with business strategy and goals. For these (and other) reasons we have seen huge growth in EA activities during the past few years. However, while many organizations have created architectures, programs, and/or groups, a fair number of those same organizations are struggling to realize the benefits of EA. Additionally, the available skill sets lag behind the demand for those skills. It seems that creating an enterprise architecture and introducing and using that architecture to provide value are very different things. This Executive Report focuses on the introduction and use of EA and describes a detailed rollout strategy, including a comprehensive architecture training program aimed at integrating EA into the overall IT lifecycle.
