Microsoft's Indigo (Windows Communication Foundation)
Five years have passed since Microsoft conjured up the Web services movement and subsequently rolled out the world's first industrial-strength Web services platform in the shape of .NET. There have been no radical changes of architectural direction in those five years; instead, we have been favored with a steady trickle of improved techniques, new tools, and almost imperceptible shifts in doctrine. This is very much Microsoft's way of proceeding; with no serious competition in its core markets, it can afford the luxury of treating the global marketplace as a huge, ongoing beta program.
