Adam Smith's book Wealth of Nations influenced the Industrial Age and became the foundation for industrial enterprises from the late 18th century through the early 19th century. By the 20th century, industrial enterprises had evolved into a complex series of manual processes. The result: manual chaos. By the late 1950s, these processes were automated by computers essentially as is, with little change. In so doing, we moved from manual chaos to automated chaos.
