Grid computing is fast becoming a viable technology that can be used both within and between organizations to provide new, cost-effective solutions for large-scale computational and storage problems and to support collaboration. The accompanying Executive Report focuses on one type of usage -- computing grids -- discussing its relevance in commerce and industry and showing the specific benefits to be gained. The report discusses the challenges of implementing a grid and provides guidance on selecting appropriate technologies.
