All the ODBMS News That's Fit to Print? (You May Be Missing Something)

by Douglas K. Barry

One of my pet peeves is the limited coverage of object database management systems (ODBMS) in the industry weeklies. Think back. How many times over the past six months have you seen a news report highlighting ODBMS? People frequently ask me why nothing is happening with ODBMS, since they see no news. I'm not going to go into the possible reasons for the lack of coverage (don't get me started!), instead, I'm going to highlight some ODBMS news that I think is important to know. I've summarized many of the press releases that have come out since July from the leading ODBMS vendors. This sample of press releases indicates that quite a bit is happening with ODBMS. Interestingly, I checked the leading industry weeklies, and none of these news items was covered.
