Ensuring that Architecture Works for the Enterprise

To be successful, an enterprise architecture must be firmly grounded in the direction and requirements of the business it serves. In a climate in which it is questioned whether IT really matters, and writing on IT failure almost constitutes a genre in its own right, perhaps it is time to look in the other direction -- toward the business -- and critically review the definition, development, and execution of many business strategies.
