The Role of Information in a Service Oriented-Architecture
In this Executive Update, we examine the role of information in an SOA. We begin with a high-level review of SOA features, discuss information-related problems with current SOA, and propose an SOA with richer information architectural elements. While we add to the architectural focus, we do not necessarily suggest new SOA elements. Rather, we attempt to fill in the information-related details not usually found in a discussion of SOA. The information focus provides a means for understanding how information fits into an SOA and provides a framework in which discussions of implementing information in an SOA can take place.
