Enterprise Architecture: A Cross-Cutting Solution

This Executive Update suggests that EA should be considered as an enterprise infrastructure rather than enterprise-scale application development. EA is a horizontal, cross-cutting solution, which seeks to share and reuse information; application development, on the other hand, is a vertical solution. The IT community must weave the cross-cutting and vertical solutions together to compose a fine fabric that can be tailored to fit the enterprise. Here, we will discuss the nature of this cross-cutting solution and distinguish EA from application development.
