Preparing for 2006: No Major Surprises
This issue of CBR is the first in what is intended to become a yearly installment on the topic of IT trends; an issue on another annual theme, budgets and the budgeting process, is scheduled to come out later this year. Our focus here is to evaluate the new technologies and IT trends you should be watching for in the upcoming year. Making this a yearly issue enables us to create a database of the technologies and trends our readers are looking at as well as those they are gaining or losing interest in. Such a multiyear database will allow us to draw some conclusions for the immediate term -- that is, to benchmark what your counterparts in the IT group of other organizations are paying attention to today. It will also, over the years, allow us to draw broader trends and lessons for which technologies and IT trends seem to take off quickly and which ones tend to struggle.
