This survey investigated the reasons behind adoption and nonadoption of content management systems, CMS use and features, and details of respondents’ own CMS projects. Almost 41% of the 128 responding organizations have more than 1,000 employees; 24% have between 100 and 1,000 employees; and the remainder have 100 or fewer employees. Thirty-seven percent of responding organizations have annual revenues over US $100 million; 33% have annual revenues under $5 million; and 30% have annual revenues between $5 million and $100 million. Annual IT budgets range from under $100,000 (19%) to over $10 million (22%), with 18% between $1 million and $10 million and 22% having annual IT budgets between $100,000 and $1 million (19% do not know the dollar amount of their annual IT budget). Almost half of the respondents (48%) hold senior management/policy making or IS/IT management titles, with project management, software engineering/programming, and engineering/R&D being among the other titles.
