Customer relationship management (CRM) is moving in several directions. Operational CRM vendors such as Siebel and PeopleSoft, which have traditionally focused on automating the transaction side of CRM (tracking sales leads, handling customer service and call-center activity, etc.), have added data warehousing and analytics to their products. At the same time, the analytical CRM vendors such as Epiphany and Broadbase (now part of Kana Software) have added support for operational CRM to their analytically heavy offerings.
