The Total Information Awareness System

There's a joke going around that the US government has all the data it needs to fight the war on terrorism -- it just doesn't know where it is. Unless you've been stuck on the International Space Station this past week, you've probably heard that what the government plans to do about this "joke" is develop the "Total Information Awareness" (TIA) system. The proposed TIA system is basically a super data warehouse. In concept and technical capabilities, it would dwarf our present notion of the data warehouse due to the sheer volume and types of data it would be able to integrate, as well as by the advanced analytical models and (automated) analyses it would provide.
