Enhanced BI Functionality in Oracle 10G

Last month, I discussed Oracle's Enterprise Grid strategy, which the company hopes to bank on with the upcoming release of its Oracle 10G database (see the 16 September 2003 E-Mail Advisor, " Oracle 10G for Enterprise Grid Computing"). This week, I provide an update on the new and enhanced BI functionality that appears in Oracle 10G. Specifically, with Oracle 10G, the company has expanded on the embedded BI capabilities that first appeared in the Oracle 9i release. These include enhanced online analytical processing (OLAP), data mining functionality, and BI JavaBeans. In addition, Oracle has added new functionality called SQL Model Clause.
