The MATRIX

by Curt Hall

The US Justice Department, in conjunction with nine US states, is developing a pilot project designed to facilitate the exchange of information pertaining to possible terrorism and other criminal activities among local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies. The MATRIX (Multistate Anti-Terrorism Information Exchange) is a federally funded project created to address the poor data and information-sharing capabilities that currently exist among individual state and federal law enforcement agencies. States currently signed on to the project are Alabama, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Michigan, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Utah.
