Grid Computing, Data Warehousing, and Business Intelligence

Grid computing is an important emerging technology. It has the potential to lower costs and boost efficiencies of computing networks by expanding resources, allocating processing power wherever needed, increasing storage capacity, and enhancing data exchange and data integration. The leading data warehousing and business intelligence (BI) vendors recognize this and are working to integrate grid-computing technology into their offerings. In this Advisor, I consider how grid computing can affect data warehousing and BI and discuss what several of the leading vendors are doing to make their products support grid applications.
