Business Objects Goes Shopping: Acquires EII and Data Visualization Vendors

Last week, Business Objects acquired two vendors. The first is enterprise information integration (EII) vendor Medience SA. The other is data visualization vendor Infommersion, Inc. Although these are not mega deals, they are important, nonetheless, because they provide Business Objects with new products and technologies it will use to enhance the functionality of its enterprise BI offerings. In short, these deals are representative of how the major BI vendors are continuously striving to transform their offerings into more comprehensive BI platforms that will better appeal to organizations seeking to standardize on and consolidate their BI tools' platforms.
