Microsoft's SQL Server 2005: Enterprise Ready?

By now, you've undoubtedly heard that Microsoft has released the much-awaited major new version of its flagship database. Nearly a half-decade in development, SQL Server 2005 has been extensively redesigned and is expected to deliver improved performance, availability, and reliability as well as new features and functionality for data warehousing and business intelligence (BI). But will these new features help close the gap with market leading database competitors Oracle and IBM? And will corporate customers view SQL Server 2005 as ready for mission-critical enterprise applications or continue to perceive it as better suited for departmental and other less-demanding applications?
