BI Centers of Excellence Are Essential for Data Mart Consolidation Efforts

The recent revelation by Hewlett-Packard's (HP's) new President and Chief Executive Mark Hurd, that the company is planning to consolidate its 762 data marts scattered across HP locations worldwide surprised a lot of people. Hurd commented on HP's plans to consolidate its data marts into an enterprise data warehouse at a securities analysts briefing last week, in which he laid out his ideas on how to get the company back on track. He said that this consolidation was essential in order for HP to obtain a better understanding of its internal business operations as well as the wants and needs of the company' customers.
