Business Rules
Within any industry, companies are guided by the same business directives as well as by the same laws and regulations. Therefore, at any company, the business processes that guide both tactical and strategic operations are expected to be invoked in well-understood business scenarios. Despite these constraints, different businesses are still able to enter and compete within the same industry, with varying levels of success. For example, there is no significant difference between the way that different telecommunications companies operate, and they are all subject to the same industry-imposed rules (e.g., switching protocols, numbering schemes) and government-imposed rules (e.g., government-imposed fees, taxes, and regulations). But, clearly, some telecommunications companies are much more successful than others.
