Cloud computing describes the state of the art in data center infrastructure and its possibilities. As we explore in this Executive Report by Brian J. Dooley, the cloud provides some hope for handling some of the trickiest issues regarding business intelligence (BI). BI is available through private (internal) clouds and public clouds, with a wide variety of configurations. BI "as a service" is prominent, but uptake has been unspectacular. Many problems remain, particularly in the areas of data transfer and integration, and these issues can threaten results.
