Are Analytics ASPs Gaining Traction?

First appearing on the scene in 2000, analytics ASPs generated much excitement. They offered companies a way to outsource their business intelligence (BI) needs by "renting" analytics applications and data analysis services under a contract agreement that generally ran for at least 12 months. Basically, the early wave of analytics ASP firms sought to extend the ASP model -- which until that time had focused extensively on offering hosted enterprise applications for transaction processing operations and human resources -- to include BI applications and services.
